How To Use Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Learn how to enable and sync two-factor authentication (2FA) for your LinkedIn account in We-Connect to ensure uninterrupted automation.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your LinkedIn account, but can also trigger intermittent security PINs.
By connecting LinkedIn 2FA to We-Connect using an authenticator app, those PINs can be resolved automatically in the background. This means your automation runs smoothly, whether you're managing your own account or a client's, without needing to stop and manually verify your activity.
In this article, we'll show you exactly how to set it up.
How to use 2FA:
You can toggle on or off 2FA when adding (or managing a previously connected) LinkedIn account.
Step 1: Enable 2FA on LinkedIn
Go to LinkedIn → Settings & Privacy → Sign in & security → Two-step verification, and start the process to enable 2FA.
If you already have 2FA enabled, you'll need to turn it off and re-enable it to generate a new secret key.
Step 2: Verify your email
LinkedIn will send a 6-digit code to your registered email address. Enter that code on LinkedIn to continue the setup.
Step 3: Choose verification method
When prompted, select "Authenticator App" as your 2FA method. You'll be asked to confirm your LinkedIn password before continuing.
Step 4: Link LinkedIn and We-Connect
LinkedIn will now show you a QR code and a secret key.
Scan the QR code using your preferred authenticator app (like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy).
Then copy the secret key (the text below the QR code) and paste it into We-Connect.
In We-Connect: Go to Settings → LinkedIn Accounts, and either add a new profile or click the edit icon from a previously connected one. From there, toggle on Enable 2FA and paste in your secret key.
Step 5: Activate 2FA
On LinkedIn, click "Continue" to proceed with the setup.
On We-Connect, click "Proceed" to confirm your input.
Now, open your authenticator app and copy the temporary 6-digit code shown.
Paste that code into LinkedIn when prompted to finish setup on their end.
Step 6: Confirm setup in We-Connect
Back in We-Connect, check the box that says: "I've successfully enabled 2FA on LinkedIn."
Step 7: Final verification
We-Connect will now show a 6-digit PIN. Make sure it matches the one currently displayed in your authenticator app. This ensures your sync is active and accurate.
